I've got a 97 ford aspire that doesn't want to go into drive. what could be wrong?

Question:
My car does this every winter. This winter seems to be worse that the last. It takes me anywhere from 5 to 45 min. to get it into drive. It's an automatic on the floor. I'm getting sick of leaving an hour early and staying late at work. Please help!!

take it to the shop it sound like drive shaft or brake safety thing
