I would have to say YES, The engine relies on the fuel and Octane for its' power.When you run lean, you would have to step on the accelerator pedal even more, to get more power out of the engine.Running to lean and sparkplugs running hot can cause to burn a hole right in the piston head eventually.Especially during acceleration when the timing is advanced.
