Question:
The ABS light stays on, and at random times the ABS kicks in and brakes with out me taouching the brakes.
Answers:
my truck defroster hardly works!?
Possible causes: wheel speed sensor(s) input signal(s) missing. Cracked or broken wheel speed exciter ring(s). Wheel speed sensor(s) to exciter ring gap too wide (require adjustment where possible. Failed ABS module (unlikely but possible). Corroded main wiring harness connector to ABS module. Hope this helps.Roughly how much would it cost to repair a dent and probably replace my bumper?
The symptoms you describe COULD be caused by a failed HCU (hydraulic control unit), but you need to have it DIAGNOSED properly first, before an unruly mechanic asks you to "throw" a $1000 HCU into it on the premise of a GUESS. Take it to someone who knows how to diagnose ABS systems.
i mechanic for a living and this is caused by the main unit out side for the anti lock system,it has a tendency to do this on the Taurus,,cars,,and it will have to be replaced,,with another one,,you need to let a good repair shop,do this,,also because the brake system on this one isn't like the older ones,,one screw up,,and it can cost hundreds of dollars to repair it,,so let a good shop fix it,,but that's whats making the pedal get hard and the light coming on,,good luck hope this help,s.
check your wheel bearings they could be bad and overheating your brake fluid and causing hard peddle
