Question:
I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE.It has the 3.1 liter engine in it,and only has 77k miles on it.It was my wife's car until she decided she wanted something that was 4wheel drive.Anyways,I took notice that on the one side of the intake there was a faint leak(Anti-freeze).I tore down the top part of the engine and found out that the intake gasket blew completely.I checked the oil for any signs of anti-freeze to be present, but only found a small trace.
I changed the oil immediately with synthetic blended oil and a new oil filter.I did this twice so I knew to of gotten all the the antifreeze out completely. After I've put everything back together again and started it up there is a medium loudness of knocking.Checked and only the top part was doing it.Tore it back down again and replaced all the lifters, checked the cam for wear spots, and came up with nothing.put it back together, and now it has a really loud knocking, same area as before. Anyone know the problem?

Did you allow it to run long enough to get some oil to the top of the engine? It could be piston slap or a broken piston skirt or a bad connecting rod bearing, or a wrist pin.

How can I remove a Color Shock decal from my car window?
i own a repair shop ,and if it wasn't there before ,you may have a bent push rod,you did check these right, anyway if that's not it i really don't know what to tell you because if it wasn't there and it appeared after you tore it down it has to be something in the engine doing it,i have had a lot of the 3.1 engines down, and there good engines, but if any anti freeze got to a bearing it will toast it ,that could be the cause,id go back in and find out,it shouldn't be knocking,it sounds to me like you know what your doing, and I'm sure you,ll find it,good luck,i hope this help,s.In my car, when it started knocking, I didn't get more than 100 yards before it blew a hole thru the block. A connecting rod is bent. That is the knocking noise.
How much does it cost to change radiator and head gasket ?
Antifreeze attacks bearings. Its likely that the bad gasket has been seeping antifreeze into the oil for some time. Over time the bearings have been destroyed by the antifreeze mix. This was also common on the mid-90s chevy truck engines. Noise travels in an engine, it can sound like the top end, but be the bottom end. Get under car when idling and listen for noises. How is the oil pressure? I feel pretty sure the engine is toast.you might have a bad rod bearing.what i would do is take off the oil pan and move every rod up and down left and right to see for any play.
