I bought a merc' (that sounds impressive doesnt it) secondhand in great condition, £3K, but I only had 3rd party insurance! Driving from the garage on day one of purchase down a very narrow country road I saw a nutter speeding towards me, wet slippy road covered in cow dung, I pulled over and stopped the nutter lost his bottle at the last moment and hit his brakes, skidded into me, his car was a write off, mine had a slightly bent main frame and a bit of body damage. Insurance people said no witness's no ones fault ! They werent going to pay anything out.I paid for mine, after shopping around I had the work done for £1K. That car lasted for years thousands of miles , likely the best car I ever had. My only other alternative was to bin it, I'm very glad I didnt.
I'd bet they'll total it, more work than the car is worth. Will probably get fixed by someone who buys it from the insurance company though.

Any unibody car(this one is) will be totalled if the unibody is bent or damaged as to fix it correctly is more than the car is worth.insurance company will most likely write it off. any twist in the main frame at all means it will have a permanent weakness. so normally they wont touch it.

If the car's worth more than the labour to put it on the jig to straighten it then you'll be ok. If the labour's going to cost more then it's a write off in the eyes of the insurance.If you get it straight again it will be perfectly safe.

There are different classes of wreck and some of them can be repaired on a jig and will pass MOT and Insurance.Best to have a professional Ford repair / dealership look at it and quote you.
