When were Craftsman Wrenches made in Japan? Marking of "bf" on the shank.?

Question:
I found a 17mm combo wrench at a thrift shop that is authentic craftsman, but it is made in Japan. Same part number as the american made counterpart. Any ideas? Who made it, and when was it?? Thanks!

Bf stands for Bulk forged, as they are made in a mass process. I don't know who made it, but they tender the process every few years or so...

Smoke comes out of my Car's AC?

can not say for sure it wasn't made in japan unless it stamped with that on it but if it is true craftsman it will be replaced if broken. Only craftsman i buy anyway is hand tools , the power tools like some of the lower end are (or were) made by ryobi this includes circular saws drills and gas weed eaters with the click link add ons. just thought i'd put that out there not that it pertains to your question...
