i have a 2001 toyota camry. all my rear lights are working but the dashboard warning light comes on, signaling that a bulb has burned out. it used to be intermittent but now it comes on every time i step on the brakes. again, none of the bulbs in any of my rear lights are burned out. how can i fix this?

Has nothing to do with brakes ! ! His LAMP OUT warning light is coming on. Check to see if you have the correct bulb/ bulbs in the rear. Different bulbs have different Resistance and the "LAMP OUT " circuity may "see" a lower Resistance bulb as a open circuit (burnt out bulb) . If it's the one that just says "brake", then it seems your "balance valve" is shifting off center...check your brake fluid, as it is probably low in one of the reservoirs. Then take it for a complete brake check, and bleeding to get the valve re-centered.Why are the gears hard to shift in my car?

Balance valve is off center. This valve turns on when there is a sudden surge of fluid in one direction. You will need to a bleed the brakes till the light goes out. There is a plunger on the balance valve that I have been able to take a wire cutter pliers and grab the valve and move it in or out, depending on the direction of the surge of fluid.
