Question:
I recently put a new battery in my 2000VW Jetta.. the car ran for about a week before my battery died due to it leaking.
I was told that the voltage regulator was most likely bad, so ordered one from the parts store, nto thinking to do a check, becasue i was frantic and need to get my car back on the road ASAP.
Im looking online and am finding no information on how to replace the VR in my car. ISome models, it (the internet) says, have them built in.. Did i just buy a part for my car that im not going to replace? Do i need to just buy an alternator? COuld it jsut be that my new battery waws FUBAR to begin with, and i dont need to replace any parts?
will my airbags go off in my 2000 jeep wrangler while in 4 wheel drive?
in case you havent noticed, i dont want to pony up for a new platernator if its not necessary.
Thanks for any advice people of the internet.

Unfortunately, your new battery failed because it was boiled by the lack of voltage regulation...Basically all of the Hydrogen was cooked out of the battery. You will need a new battery and I would highly recommend that you replace the alternator considering this is where your voltage regulator is located. Any Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts or ORiely's will be able to test and confirm the problem and have the parts for you. Good Luck
Is it a good idea to start your car in the winter every few days to keep the battery charged?
Take the voltage regulator back to the parts store and ask them where it installs? I think it's built in, so most likely the alternator is overcharging. Good luck!My fiesta xr2i keeps cutting out in the morning ................?
more than likely the voltage regulator is built into the alternator, you have 2 choices, tear the alternator apart and install the new voltage regulator or do like everyone else and take the easy way out and go buy the whole alternator and take your parts back. I would have the charging system checked out before I did anything, take it to autozone and they will check the system for free.More Questions & Answers ...
