93 Geo Metro manual won't shift into 5th gear. Why?

I agree with danbot372 100%. 9.5 times out of 10, it's the DPFE sensor that has failed, causing the P0402 code you got, but by the sounds of your symptom description, I would be leaning more toward your EGR passages being plugged up with carbon. Just be careful no pieces of carbon fall into the intake manifold as you are cleaning it out.

My GEO 1.0 loses power and makes a varoom sound, sometimes back fires,?

The egr valve is located on the side of the plenum. There will be a pipe threaded into it and a single vacuum line going into it also

Where do i check if my fan is blocked on my honda accord?

yeah, but more than likely you don;t need the egr valve, but the pfe sensor. Little plastic box with two rubber tubes, a lot cheaper and easier than the valve and the problem 90% of the time. If its not, clogged ports in the egr valve or intake can cause the same problem, may need to remove egr and intake to clean.
