Question:
I recently bought a car, with a 1100 cc Renault 5 engine which has been fitted with a non-standard "Nikki" carburettor. There is no serial/model number on the carb.
Problems with my '88 BMW 325i?
I need to find literature on the carb, and a source of spares. So far the only Nikki carbs I have found on the Internet have been for lawnmowers and Mazda RX7's - no site has pictures - amd I have yet to find an official Nikki site.
Help please
Answers:
Nikki is a cheaper Japanese copy of Weber carburettors. As a result the majority of parts are interchangeable. You have unfortunately not said what sort of problems you are having with the current set up.
Normally the carbs are changed over to offer higher performance but at the cost of fuel efficiency.
The short answer to you problems if you have any is to either take the car off and take it to your local garage to let them have a look at it or try a scrap yard to source an original Renault carb.
