Recently my car has been making a metal scrapping noise when i drive but it disappears when i hit the brakes.

If the noise stops when you hit the pedal, its probably just the wear indicators. They give you a little warning before any expensive metal to metal contact. Time for a brake job.i own a repair shop and usually when you hear the metal to metal sound it means the pads or shoes are worn out on it,id have them checked real good to see if it does need them if you was in a bad enough accident it could have damaged something causing this,but id get those checked as soon as i could,brakes aren't nothing to fool around with,be safe have a mechanic look them over for you,good luck hope this helps.
