It sounds like you are having an ignition problem...More than like it is the Ignition Module...Next time it dies, remove one of the spark plug wires from your coil pack...Crank the vehicle over, if you dont see or hear any spark you having an ignition problem...

If you remove the Ignition Module, (Orielly's, Autozone,Pep Boys) will check your module for free...The module is located underneath the coil pack...It isnt hard to replace, and it might save you some time if you get it tested...Atleast you will be able to rule it out.IF you do take it, ask the to test it atleast 3 times back to back...Sometime the modules quit with they get hot...

Next time you can get it to cut out, immediately put a spark tester on one of the plug wires. Remove one plug wire from one of the cylinder spark plugs and connect it to the spark tester. It doesn't sound like a pump problem, but the pump is in the tank. If it does "sputter down" as if you were running low on fuel, you should look at the filter. Sometimes sediment can collect on the filter element, and stop flow, and then settle when it isn't running. But that is very uncommon unless you have rust in your tank(also uncommon).What causes a motor mount brake?
Easy free test: Take off the filter, and pour the gas out of the filter from the inlet side. If the gas that comes out is NOT clear with no coloring or chunks or dirt of any kind, you may have a plugged filter. Or a better test would be to put a pressure gauge on the test port of the fuel rail. If you have pressure, and the car doesn't start, go to the next step.
