My 2000 kia sephia takes off slowly in drive but if I put it in 1st gear it takes off like it should. HELP!

It takes off at a slow speed but does take off but when I put it in 1st gear like it's a stick shift it takes off. I just replaced the transmission. HELP?!

Take it back to the shop that put it in, it sounds like the shift linkage needs adjusting, not in drive although indicator says it is.
