Go with the lowest weight your manual recommends. Everything else is what it CAN use, not what it needs. If it can run 5w30, do so. 40 is thicker...10w30 in winter 10 w 40 in summer. the 10 is how it flows and 2nd # thickness if it below 32 ALL the time [notth pole] you could use 0w20 In mohave desart use 20 w 50... many new cars come with synthetic 0w30 or 5 w30...synthetic gives better milage and lasts longer..

10w30 is a lighter weight oil then the 10w40,but if i were you i would use the high mileage oil.thats what i use in my car and its got over 100,000 miles.it protects the moving parts,and its for cars and trucks,with high mileage.Ignition problem on my 73 Stingray Corvette.?
You use the oil the manual calls for. Rarely do Toyota cars use heavywieght oils like those. I think you should be using a 5w-30. Pop the hook and check the sticker again.My peugeot 306 is leaking fuel from the fuel filter.?
