2001 Nissan pathfinder shaking?

This is the 3rd time this has happened. I am driving along and my check engine light has been on but then my car starts shaking very subtly, nothing huge but my check engine light then starts blinking. I have pulled over, turned my car off and then back on and it stops for a few weeks. My mechanics said he can't find anything wrong- help!
