Will a car drive ok after it has been sitting for 2 years?

Question:
My car was in an accident about 2 years ago. There was no mechanical damage, just front-end body damage. I was starting college at the time so I couldn't afford to fix it. Now I have the parts and am having a friend fix it. Someone told me there might be problems because it was sitting for so long but it should be ok right? Does anyone know about this?? I appreciate it.

Before you pursue with any body repair , first ,you should to do the following things:
Check the level of the engine coolant and the color too.
-change the engine oil and the filter as well.
-empty the fuel tank from the GAS.
-Check the power steering fluid.
- check the brake fluid.
-Check the transmission fluid.

After you do all the above.
Try to star the engine and let idle for a least 15 minutes.
check the engine temperature at the Gage
- See if any of engine indicators is on.
- try to accelerate(2500 rpm) the engine and see if you notice any smoke or you hear any noise .
- Put a card Bord under the car to see wether there is a leak or not
- try to see if there is any leak under the car( engine oil, transmission oil, power steering oil, gas, engine coolant)
IF the car pass all these test and point of diagnostic.

Now, for your safety you have to check the integrity of the brake system.
Try to press the pedal brake several time and see how the pedal feel
- If the pedal go down or very spongy you should not even think to move that car one feet from where it is.
Then open all the four wheels and check all the rubber brake hoses at the calipers also at the wheels cylinder and see if they have any sign of deterioration or they leak
-Check the wheels cylinder if they leak !
-Check the brake caliper if they leak!
- Try to take a very close look at the brake rotor condition and the pads as well.
-Check the condition of the brake shoes .
IF THE ABOVE ARE "OK" YOU ARE NOT YET OUT OF THE BUSHES!
You have to rebuilt every thing has any rubber materials in your brake system and you may change the brake master cylinder as well and flush the entire brake system , and bleed the system out of air.
The only reason you should do this; is for your safety
Due to climate and other weather condition you should take care of the fuel tank.
plus you should take care of the brake system because the brake parts(those who are made from rubber they are dry .
Once you apply the brake they will leak suddenly because they were not operated for two years(they are dry)
if every thing go smooth for you then you should spend money to fix the body of that car.
If your car has a timing belt you should check it
Again for your safety try to pay more attention to the brake system before any thing else.
Also try to change the transmission fluid.

Two things to do is change your oil and filter before starting it, and you may have moisture build up in the gas tank. Put a can of dry gas in the tank...check all the other fluids, top them off, then start it...let it idle for a while, and watch the temp gage closely...you may want to replace it...

I'm a car collector and if your car was kept in dry storage, you'll have no problems. If you want a little extra assurance, change the engine oil and filter, flush the engine and radiator and refill with fresh coolant. Brake fluid attracts water, so there's nothing wrong with flushing the brake system with clean fluid. Also check the belts and hoses for signs of cracking and replace any that doesn't look good. Don't forget to inspect the tires for dry rot, tiny cracks.
Drain the gas tank and fill half full with fresh gas and add a couple cans of carb/fuel injector cleaner to the tank and run it near dry before refilling.
Fix it and enjoy.
