I have a 98 Chevy Malibu that is VERY difficult to shift out of park. Shifts fine once it's out of park.?

Question:
It's an automatic transmission. It doesn't matter what temperature it is outside either. *HELP* Any idea what's going on with it?

Some cars simply require that you are putting a lot of force on the brake before shifting out of Park...push real hard on the brake pedal and hold it there before shifting out of Park.

There are a few possibilities your shifter linkage could be bent
highly unlikely your shifter linkage bushings may have have to be replaced due to wear and tear or being completely gone,a
good possibility or there is a "parking pall" in side your transmission that is either loose or possibly bent, The latter is the most likely problem.
