I left my parking brake on for 12 miles, going up to 45mph, what type of damage have I done?

Question:
The truck is 1990 Ford Ranger 4x4 xlt, 3.0l V6- the indicator light for the brake isn't working. The engine did not rev high, but we smelt a burning smell when we parked, we mostly drove through residential areas (25mph). I worried I warped the drums or just wore down the rear brake pads. How should I know to bring it in or not?

Since you have drum brakes chances are that you only glazed the pads and drum. You need to really heat up a drum to warp it. I doudt that you can do that in 12 miles.

I would conduct a visiual inspection of the rear brakes. Chances are that they are just glazed and both pad and drum can be sanded down. Any novice or experienced machanic can do this, it is not to hard. But one should be familar with drum brakes and have a manual, and do not do both sides at the same time, always leave one side to reference the other.

If you do not know how to replace your brakes then I would go to a garage and have them do a brake test. A brake test machine will tell you the variance between parking brake and foot brake and right/left variance. This will help the mechanic to determine that the degree of braking the vehicle has is safe.

How do I remove marks on the paint from a rear spoiler?

Best way to check - park on a hill, and put it in neutral. If it rolls, you need a check, if not then you don't.
Also, if it's auto then a brake should come on automatically when it's in Park anyway.

You probably didn't warp the drums, but you may have cooked the rear shoes. Have it checked asap. Good luck.

TRUE or FALSE, please explain...?

See if the parking brake still holds, and see if you have a "lunge" when you're on the brakes at low speed. If it holds and you have no lunge, you've dodged the bullet.

Were is the EGR valve located on a 1996 Ford f150 351 clevlend motor?

at the very least you may have worn the rear brake shoes, and at worst maybe the drums also,is unlikely that drums can be "turned" if warped,,,replace the drums and shoes along with the springs because the heat will cause them to stretch and not pull shoes back as they should,,,,,also fix the light

Is there something wrong with my car fuse?

have your brakes checked out, and replace them if needed, and have the rotors checked also make sure you did not damage them from the excess heat from the constant pressure on them for so long .thats all you need to do if you know how to check it yourself ,do it and save some money you know for sure then,if your car has brake pads and hubs do the same ,if the rotors or hubs are damaged have them turn themdown on a brake lathe.good luck!
