I hit a massive pothole on my way to work today, and noticed when I got home a nice bubble on the tire. Its obvious it could burst. The tires have 17k miles on them. Will I have alignment issues replacing it with the same identical but new tire? Or do I need 4 new ones?

A lot of tire manufactures have a warranty against this kind of problem. The tire stores also offer road damange replacment I would check and see if you can get the same type of tire and have it replaced. take the rear wheels off and rotate them to the front. 1 new tire in the rear=fine. but if you hit a pothole hard enough to break a bead, then youre probably going to have to get an alignment anyhow.Replacing all 4 tires when one is damaged is a myth. It may have been true 50 years ago because of the poor quality rubber, but it is no longer true.

Your tires should have a lot of tread left on them and replacing one tire should be fine. ith only 17K miles you shouldn't need 4 new ones yet. I would buy 2 though and put them on the front and have the front end aligned, I'm sure you knocked something out of whack.If your tires have 17k on them I would change all of them for your safety and everyone Else's safety.

no,it wont throw the front end out of line.sure you can buy 1,2,3 or even 4 tires.they will sell you as many as you want.just replace the bad 1 and the alighnment will be fine.More Questions & Answers ...
