A prankster broke an egg on the hood of my brand new Honda Civic. How to remove?

It's been at least a couple days, and it seems from some research that our paint job may be screwed. Real nice prank. I mixed vinegar and water and applied a soaked towel to the area for 20 minutes, but no matter how hard I scrub, a film remains. Any ideas?

Try the soaked towel again but leave the vinegar out. It may migrate thru the paint and will only serve to coagulate the protein even more. Stop scrubbing. Don't try any solvents, you could try ordinary polish after the second towel. But I'd go for an insurance job if this does not work well.

people at one of those car wash places (where you stay in your car and it goes through the car wash) might be able to help ya. but yeah usually eggs do ruin paint jobs on cars.

I would say get with your car dealership-they might know how to clean it off without repainting.
If you have insurance-which you should they will pay for it-as this is vandalism.

try dish soap. Maybe that will remove the film. It is made to remove food grease and stuff like that. Dish soap won't hurt your paint but it will remove wax.

first of all you dont wanna use vinegar on ur cars paint. if the egg didnt screw up the paint job then the vinegar prob did. you can take it to someplace that paints cars and have them use something on it to take the film as you say off. they will probably have to buff that spot. shouldnt cost too much
