Why do some motorcycles(the faster ones) have digital speedometers and some don't?

Question:
Is there a reason why the Kawasaki ZX-12r and 14r have analog speedometers but the ZX-10r and below have digital? Is it because the analog ones are more accurate?

Analogs are a lot easier to read when your speeding up extremely fast as the large bikes are easily capable of doing. Its also easier to get a general reference of how fast your going with an analog gauge. Digital gauges have never really been a popular technology for true performance vehicles of any type because of the problems of reading them as well as the lack of intuitiveness versus an analog gauge.

Oddly enough, the 250Rs have analog gauges as well.

What is better a kawasaki brute force 750 or honda rincon both 07 models?

The 250 speedo goes to 130mph too, which doesn't make much sense to me, because you'd be way deep in redline territory in top gear to get that speed.

What kind of bike(s) do you presently have?

the reason my be the style of the bike, the other may be the cost. if its a cheaper motorcycle you might not get digital. even though that is companies like yamaha on their FZ6 have the digital and i feel that that motorcycle is very equipped. plus the digital is good since you want to see how fast your going in real time not just a small gauge, since you are riding a bike its good to get your info easily.

Do you think a mid 80's Yamaha Virago, 1000 cc would be a good highway bike?

digital speedos are usually on maaad fast bikes. i'm guessing the reason for this is that it's hard and dangerous to read an analog rather than a digital when you are going 180 miles an hour.

Anyone rides a motorbike without knowing ohw to ride a bike?

Digitals are harder to read, but they do not have an upper limit like with an analog gage. This is probably one of the reasons for putting them on the faster bikes. Also, the analog gage has a more retro look to it, so slower bikes like cruisers and standards look more "correct" with that type of instumentation. Not sure why the cost would be much different - I think an analog actually has more moving parts, so it is probably more costly to make and more prone to failing. For me anyway, analogs are much easier to read.
