The bike definitely works harder, I re-geared to make up for some of the strain but am now looking into a big inch kit.I've got (the dogs ) sidecar on a 1200 Sportster so it is a lot to ask that little bike to do.

I own a Chinese Chang Jiang, check out, www.changjiangunlimited.com
The sidecar is somewhat heavy and yes it adds stress to every component of the drive train. Its not real obvious, I mean its not like the bike is instantly going to break once you install the sidecar. However, over time and miles the side car bike will no doubt wearout key drive train components sooner. Things like brakes, wheel bearings, chain & sprockets, spokes, tires, steering head bearings, clutch, and transmission will be effected. No need to worry about it, mount the sidecar and go for a ride, kids love them, and everywhere you go you'll get smiles, thumbs up, and waves.
