I just bought me a 100cc Honda Lead straight from Honda brand new for £1400. It gets me 120 miles on £5 fuel and don't believe the bad ratings on speed. Mine gets me to 60mph happily.

the most popular seems to be the Piaggio scooter. http://www.piaggio-center.co.uk/piaggio. but i wouldn't recommend a scooter opt instead for a 125 town style bike very cheap and sturdy (you will drop your bike, everybody has including me) scooters have absolutely no power you have to be able to accelerate out of trouble quicker than you get into it. and greedy dealers are shipping them out like candy to susceptible 17 year old boys who have no road sense who are a menace to real road users. having number 46 in rossis' colours on a scooter doesnt make for a faster hair dryer.

Check your regional craigslist for used values. A 150cc scooter has a top speed of around 55-60 mph. Honda, Yamaha, and Kymco scooters have very good reputations. If you can "twist a wrench", a China crate scooter might be a suitable.
