Best motorcycle fit for petite women?

Question:
I'm a small, petite girl. Only 5'1 and weigh about 110 lbs. I've become fascinated with motorcycles and want to pick one up. But I just want to know if theres a particular sport-bike model thats designed for smaller people (esp. women).

On a '71 DT 250, what should the points gap be set at?

seems there is alot of biased people on here and to them, if nobody says to get a gsxr, r-1, r-6, ducatti...anything but a ninja, they automatically get thumbs down. but there is alot more to sport bikes than they want to admit, and i'd be willing to bet 3-5 odds that those that currently ride 1 of the above started with a ninja 250 or 500, but wont admit it.

I just put a Vance and Hines pipe on my 1989 ninja 750. what jet kit do i need?

when u go to look at a bike, look at the seat height. i'm 6', and a bike with a very low seat height feels extremely small to me. give u an example. the bike i ride is a standard issue 1200 sportster. seat height on it is 29" with the sundowner seat.
now lets move to the new bike they just brought out...the 1200n nightster. still a sportster, still has a 1200cc engine, difference with this bike is, the seat height as-is off the floor is 25". that 4" difference is extremely noticeable to me; it makes it feel like a toy.

Anyone old enough/crazy enough to remember Kawasaki S2 350?

back to the sport bikes. sport bikes by design is built for speed, razor sharp handling, and has the ability to lay over up to 60 degrees in a turn. sport bikes will also respond INSTANTLY to any and all rider inputs or commands. 1 mistake on them and u could find urself on the ground and in alot of pain. countersteering comes into play over 20 mph on almost any bike.and when that starts, it wont take much to make a sport bike break over into a lean. the bikes with an 'R' in their name are race copies. they WILL get a beginner hurt. forgiveness isnt 1 of these bikes' traits. if u want a forgiving sport bike, u'll have to go to a ninja 250, 500, or 1 of the 500cc buells. 600cc and up can wind up gettin u into alot of trouble.

Did I get screwed or what? 07 Ninja 500R?

there was a poster that suggested to start on a standard cruiser. it would be benificial to u to do that also. all bikes have to lean to turn, but u also for the first season at least, be on a bike that is forgiving. cruisers that's 600cc's will be gentle in comparison to a 600cc sport bike. its up to u, but i strongly recommend wearing only leather when u ride. sweat will wash off. road rash doesnt.and it hurts. it is a cold hard statistic....ur first 6 months on the road will be the most deadly time for u. if u want to survive this dangerous time frame, i suggest u find a forgiving bike.

I know a girl your height who rides an R1... though she had it lowered A LOT, to the point where she had to bend up the bottom of the license plate so it wouldn't scrape the wheel. Your best bet is to look on craigslist for something that has already been lowered.

My Honda Shadow has sat for 8 months, what should I do before trying to start it up?

best 1 would be that u can flat-foot with u fully in the saddle on both sides of the bike. but when it comes to sport bikes, it would be hazardous to ur health if u go over 500cc's for at least a year. ninja 250 or a 500, or a buell. if u insist on getting a gsxr or a cbr-xxx-rr or a 'bussa, u are gambling with ur life. those bikes will get a rookie seriously hurt if they make a mistake.

What would be the best sproket sizes to put on my 1985 suzuki lt250r?

Before you get into the sport bikes, I would suggest you get some ride time in on a conventional bike. The previous suggestion of taking the MSF riding course is right on the mark. Learn to ride right from the beginning, and once you learn, take the advanced rider course. These classes will teach you how to live and ride with other vehicles on the road and also how to survive.

I suggest you look for a Honda Rebel to start, and once you get some experience, ride what you are comfortable on.

Welcome to the open road!

Has anyone ever used tapeworks.com products for sportbikes?

The Buell Blast comes in a "low seat" version that gives you a 25.5" seat height. That is the lowest I've seen personally. Check out the websites of all the bike manufacturers. They all list seat height, generally under the "specifications" section. That way you can narrow down your search to those bikes that fit you.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250 is your best bet for a sport bike. Are you sure you want one of those? Look at a Harley Sportster too, preferably a used Hugger model, before you decide. Have fun!

Masonic auto decor?

I'd recommend the Kawasaki 250 Ninja. Great motorcycle for a begginer or experienced rider. Especially light or short riders. Capable for larger riders. I ride one 'cause it's fun, gets great mileage and I don't have to tear up my R1 or my Harley. A 250 Ninja will pull a grade at 90 with ease. Once they are "on the pipe" they barely notice a hill. And they will go in excess of 100MPH. They'll beat a stock 883 sportster in handling, speed and economy. 70 MPG. Over 250 miles on a tank of fuel. The current 600's have better suspension but until you are really comfortable riding the EX250 is a more economic route. You can buy a lot of performance goodies for a 250 Ninja. You can find parts easy. And easy to maintain. The people that bad mouth their size or power obviously don't own one. Nor do they appreciate the joy and fun that riding a small displacement bike can bring. A 600-1000 could cost you a couple thousand bucks cosmetics to repair if you lay it down and a whole EX250 is only 3 thousand. It's really your only choice if you want a sport-bike model for smaller people as a learner. You'll be able to ride that R1 later. The better rider you become... the more you'll appreciate all bikes. Think big-Ride small.

I want to know how many Lambretta SX200's are still on the road in the UK since production stopped in 1968

Here in PA they offer free motorcycle safety course and provide motorcycles for the course, They are 250's and most of them are Honda Shadows. These are good training cycles and are not very expensive. They start out teaching you the trip precheck through to avoiding hazzards on the road. We had 5 people in our class who have never driven a motorcycle, one of which never even been on a motorcycle before. Everybody passed the four day class and received their license. Try a smaller bike and work your way up until you become more experienced. However, if this will be your first bike buy used and pay cash, get the experience of riding before moving up to bigger and more expensive bikes. I have had friends who bought big bikes like Goldwings and rode only a few times then selling them at a loss because they weren't ready for a big bike. Nothing wrong with starting small and working up to bigger later on. In fact the smaller bike will normally sell quicker when you are ready to move up, then use the money for your next bike.

Once you've got your license and have a better idea what it feels like, you'll have a better idea what you want out of a bike. If you're already asking about sport bikes, you probably know what you want already though!

As for that, you can get most sport bikes lowered. I'm 5'3 and I had my 04 6R lowered. At 5'1, you might have a little more trouble..

Does anyone know of a website that sells and ships new motorcycles?

The 250 or 500 Ninjas might work for you, or I guess the Buell which I know nothing about.

I'm looking for a motor bike which can be delivered at banglore . anything between 500 and 1000cc.?

But it's a valid suggestion to try a street bike first. Sport bikes, even the little guys, can get you in trouble - they're so intuitive that a sloppy/new rider can inadvertently tell it to do things unintentionally. And I'm not just talking about speed!

Are Ducatis the sportsbikes that require the most maintenance?

But you do what works for you. Although if possible, spend your time in an empty parking lot getting to know your bike.

What does Hayabusa mean?

Personally, I am a Yamaha and Suzuki fan. Both the Yamaha FZ-6 and Suzuki GS 500 would be good sporty-smaller bikes. However, like others that have already noted this, I would very, very seriously recommend that you (1) take a motorcycle riding course (generally they are a whole weekend), and then (2) once you have taken the course, 'throw your leg' over several bikes at a dealership, and see what fits you best!
Sport-bikes are a lot of fun - but they are not always the most comfortable, and each has a different lay-out, so what is comfortable for one person, is not necessarily for another.
I too - have seen fairly small women on 1000cc sportbikes, and on 600cc ones too. They will typically fit you in a riding position, but the tough part is being able to have your feet down at a stop, and being able to pick up the bike when it falls over (trust me, that WILL happen :( )
Good luck with your search, and take that course - you will really benefit from it!

If i buy a bike but the seller has the greed slip v5 and paperwork who owns the bike?

Your best bet is to sit on as many bikes as you can to see what feels comfortable and what doesn't. If you like the reach on the bars and controls, feeling of the seat, things like that, but the bike feels too tall, ask the dealership if the bike can be lowered.

HARLEY question?

It may turn out that its hard to find a bike that you can flat foot. Thats not the end of the world. You'll spend most of your time riding the bike. Make sure you're comfortable in a normal riding position.

Trafic for renew the lisens for cars at giza?

As for what bikes to look at... the Ninja 250 seems like the best bet as far as sport bikes go. If this is your first bike, it might be worth looking at a non sport bike to learn on. My girlfriend learned on a 250 Rebel. She's now moving up to something bigger. While you might not want a basic or cruiser, they aren't a bad option for the first year when you're learning the basics of riding. Once you've got more experience and confidence you wont mind the height issue so much.

Are 125cc pit bikes really fun?

Just make sure to take the MSF and wear your gear. Good luck!

Can anybody help me with my motorcycle?

1st thing you should do is take a safety course after that i would go look into a 2007 honda cbr125r, small, light, cheap, looks great cause it looks like its bigger brother the cbr600r and handles great.3 year warranty and you should be able to keep this bike for awhile cause it can handle.

How much should I expect to pay for a set of stock forks on a KTM 50 LC sr adv.?

I'm 5' tall and weigh 140, not a big person at all. I just recently bought an older bike, 1993 Yamaha FZR600. I had the bike lowered. I bought it in January and I've been riding since early March. I am taking the rider's course but my boyfriend giving me lessons helped a lot and now I think I will be well prepared for class. He's not a professional but he showed me little things like, how to shift gears, which is very important :) He took me out to an empty parking lot and had me ride in first gear. Now I'm riding around my neighborhood. I can't tell you what bike is better for a petite person but I do have to say get an older bike because you will indeed drop it...I haven't yet but I know I will. I was told I made a bad choice with my bike because it was older and heavier but for someone as petite as me, they are all heavy no matter what :) If you're that concerned, I would get a 250. Good luck.
