In general what's a better made motorcycle: Harley or Suzuki?

Question:
By better I mean both safer and performance wise. I've heard street bikes like Suzuki and Kawasaki are better bikes. Is this true? And what makes one or the other safer/perform better?

Answers:

How can I stop helmet visor from fogging in cold?

Suzuki and Kawasaki are the lesser of the jap bikes.Honda is by far the best built Jap bike with Yamaha as #2.
Harley, Honda and Yamaha are comparable, with regard to quality, Suzuki and Kawasaki, though they perform well are poorly built.

They are both good, it is more a matter of personal preference.
Harleys cost a lot more.
The Jap cruiser bikes are generally less expensive but are also very nice.
I have a friend that has a Yamaha Road Star and it is a very nice motorcycle no doubt but he is planning on trading it in on a Harley Road King.
Personally I have always had a Harley and I have never had any problem with any Harley that I have ever owned despite what the Harley haters will tell you.
All motorcycles require regular maintenance if you don't want to wind up as a smear on the highway so one is not anymore maintenance free than the other.
As far as safety goes, big heavier motorcycles with lots of torque and a low center of gravity are safer on the roads than those that are smaller and lighter with less torque more horse power.
My GF has a Moto Guzzi which is my second favorite motorcycle.

Kawasaki mule 600 manual?

Today's Harleys are far better than in the old days. Safety has more to do with the rider. Maintenance costs are higher on the Rice Rockets!

Leaves the warehouse next business day?

Harleys used to have big problems mechanically, but, they have routed out the problems over the last decade or so. They are both pretty even on safety, except the Harley is usually a more heavy duty bike which gives it an edge. It mainly boils down to an image issue. Would you rather have people see you on a Hog, or are you simply satisfied with a motorcycle? Personally I am a Harley-man.

If I have a bike that is 110cc, is that legal if you are under 16?

The '70 suzuki titan 500 that i bought,in fair running shape, back in '87,was one tank of a road bike. Everything on this bike was overbuilt. It reminded me of a war spec range rover. Even Hot-Rod magazine did a feature on this quick road warrior. I finally sold it in 2002 to relieve my wife of her concerns of how easy it was for me to ride off into traffic. When I sold it I didnt have more than a couple of hundred dollars into it the whole time i owned it-tires,batteries and oil changes allong with minor maintenace issues. The bike was 99% original at the time i sold it.

Should i buy a motorcycle?

Since Suzuki is notoriously the worst Japanese motorcycle maker in terms of reliability, I have to give the edge to Harley. Harley Davidson has come a long way in the last decade. Performance wise, it depends what you are looking for. An M109 and a V-Rod are neck and neck down the drag strip. Harleys have an undeniable image and style advantage over any Jap bike.

Im Getting my Motocycle license what kind of bike should i get?

Safe, theyre all safe or the company gets sued. Performance well since a 250cc kawasaki can whip a harley, just imagine what a 1000cc or 1300/1400cc Suzuki/Kawasaki will do. Can you say more than a 150HP at the rear wheel and 400lbs. Compared to a harley with 1/3 of the horse power and twice the weight.

The Price of new Karizma?

Harleys are better than they used to be, but still have a higher frequency of repair record than the Japanese models. If you want a crusier model, you get better reliability with a Suzuki, but better resale with a Harley, due to the current level of demand.

Gilera runner 180 ??help?

As for safety, that is more dependent on the skills and experience of the rider than the manufacturer. Certain models of bikes handle better and stop better than others - this award goes to sport bikes over cruisers. Sport bike riders, however, tend to take more chances, so it all balances out. Suzuki sport bikes are generally better all around in performance and relaibility than Buells, the Harley version of a sport bike.

On a mini pocket bike. what will make it faster. less teeth or more teeth sprocket?

I've own them all. I rode a Suzuki Intruder 1400cc for 7 years, no problems. I rode a Kawasaki Nomad for 6 years with zero problems. I have rode Harley's on and off for the last 25 years, and they have made some great improvements. I currently ride a HD Electric Glide with over 30,000 maintenance free miles. I have owned over 30 motorcycles, and you take the good with the bad, some times you just get a lemon no matter who makes the bike. So I'm saying pick out the bike you like, don't pay attention to the make.

Do people who think little bikes are not good for beginners or vets, fun, fast .?

Safety depends more on the rider than anything else. The manufacturing processes that both companies use these days result in very dependable bikes with very low rates of failure. Both makes come with excellent warranties and both companies have reputations for quality products.

The resale on an old Harley will be much higher than on a Suzuki also.

What is the minimum age you can ride a motorcycle (have some sort of licence) in Ohio?

I don't know why these answers are saying Suzuki is the worst metric bike made because I've had less problems with them than any other Japanese bike I ever owned. I have a 21 year old Cavalcade in my garage right now that is superior to the Gold Wing made today in so many ways. I've owned H-D and will never own another one. I also have a 2004 Suzuki Volusia...and 2003 Suzuki Savage and a 2002 Suzuki Intruder. None have given me a moments trouble. Buy what you want. Don't base your answers on what people say simply because you will receive answers like mine.partial to this bike or that bike. ANY Japanese bike is superior to a comparable H-D and that statement is coming from a guy that's owned Hondas, Triumphs, Kawasakis, Yamahas, and Harleys. I had a 1981 Suzuki that sat outside in all kinds of weather...rain, fog, snow...you name it. Know what I had to do to get it running after two years out behind the garage covered by a tarp? New battery and a fresh tank of gas. Fired on the thrid engine turnover. The buyer rode it away. Last I heard...it's still running good.

Have i been ripped off. What can i do? xj600?

For the most part, I think that todays motorcycles are equal for performance. Of course, you have to realize that all Harleys, other than the sportster, for 07, come with the 96 cubic inch engine. I've had both a Suzuki and a Harley and currently own a Harley. For safety, yes, it is primarily the driver that makes a difference, however, I have found, and you can ask almost anyone, the cruiser Harleys are safer for the following reasons. Like I said before, I've owned Suzuki's, Hondas, and my first Harley was a sportster. All of them had a narrow front tire. With my current Harley, an 07 Street Glide, it has a wide front tire. At a stop light, it is much easier to balance the Street Glide, than it was any other bike that I've had with the narrower front tire. It is more forgiving in a tight turn at low speeds. I can't tell you how many times, when approaching my garage door with the other bikes, at a speed of 2 - 5 miles per hour, making a tight turn, so that I could back the bike into the garage, that I'd loose my balance and have to put my foot down on the ground to catch the bike and keep it from falling. With the Street Glide, I have never had that problem. The bike is really balanced, and I surprise myself at how slow I can go, and how easy it is to turn on a dime. My best suggestion, is to go to a Harley dealer and a Suzuki dealer and take both bikes for a ride. Then decide for yourself.

Why would anyone ride a motorcycle without a helmet?

As far as price is concerned, there really isn't that much difference, when you compare like sized bikes. The problem is when a Honda Shadow rider with a 650cc engine compares the price to a Harley Electra Glide or Road King. Granted, there is a big difference there, but, compare the price of a Road King with a Gold Wing.

What is the best 250cc motorbike maker?

u could take the best built, most reliable bike.give it to someone that just runs the chit out of it, changes the oil maybe every 7000 miles.if that, runs the air cleaner to the point that it's almost caked wih dust.and that bike wont last more than 2 or 3 years before it's listed as 'killed in action'.

I have a 96 honda f3. the stock rear tire is a 160. can i fit a 190 tire.?

a bike is only as safe as the rider. if u take a zero mile rider and a rider with only 2 years riding, take them out on a 60 mile run thru the twisties, its a good bet the pure rookie will go down within 25 miles. experience and maturity is what makes a safe rider for starters, being able to consistantly track threats in the bike's airspace, and bein able to predict who will most likely pull out in front of them is the other.

Where can i get a manual for a suzuki bandit?

with the exception of the v-rod, all harley's are air-cooled. there's a big difference in water and air cooled engines. always has been, always will be. harley's were designed primarily as a long distance tourer to be just as comfy at 500 miles as it was at 5 miles. up until the 60's i belive, u didnt find a jap bike on the road. it was either indian, or harley.i might be wrong if there were more manufacturer's around then.

Tell me about power commander?

from the factory, no bike is at '100% performance rating'. if they were, there would be no aftermarket pipes, air cleaners, or any of that. as long as a bike will keep up with interstate traffice, do instant starts, and go from point a to b and back without killin me, i'm happy. the only performance that's actually needed is the ability to keep up with the legal speed on the interstates. there is absolutely no reason to go to a road like the dragon, and blast thru the curves at 90+ just cause the bike can. if u go down from it, it makes it look bad to the sane riders that isnt afflicted with moronitis.

I need bike Alarm which can send me message to my mobile phone lock the engine when unauthorised use?

if there was a bill pending in congress right now about eliminating all sport bikes of 750cc and up from being on the streets, i'd support it. it would cut down on the number of idiots that have zero miles on the saddle gettin 1 of these, and getting killed within a month into the season.

Would you prefer a..?

harley may be the most expensive out the door, but u can do alot of customization to it, parts for even the 'ancient' bikes are still available, and they generally get higher resale values.
last time i was in a metric shop, there wasnt very much selection for customization. i dont see many 30 year old metric bikes on the road either compared to harleys.

What is a good tyre for a Enduro / Dual purpose bike? (KLR250)?

I have seen people with Kawasaki's and with Suzuki's have lots of problems and ones that are hard to fix, plus they seem like they are made really cheap too.
I know Honda's are good all my brothers ride them{ and hard} and they have very few problems.
I have a 2002 Dyna wide glide, and it has33,000 miles on it. All that has been done to it is the oils changed ,the air filter and spark plugs. I'm on my third set of tires and I am supposed to get my primary adjusted.
Between Harley and Suzuki ,the Harley is a much better bike.
If you would have asked Harley or Honda I would have to do some serious thinking about that.

Is the bolt on the right side (tranny side) of the '02 YZ250 crankshaft, left or right hand threads?

There was a time when Harley was almost bankrupt for making bad bikes but has since then proven to be high quality bikes. They have been making better bikes and are constantly improving in the market place. Their goal is to be the best motorcycle manufacture in the U.S.. Today's Harley are more advanced and have been improved to make them more reliable and comfortable to ride. This is why their re-sale value is higher then most other bikes. As for safety that depends on the rider,

Thinking about getting a bike, any suggestions?

Depends what you want. I have owned Suzuki's and Yamaha's and have always been happy with them.
