I want a dirt bike but......?

i want a 125cc dirt bike for christmas......and i want to get good enough to race, i have had dirt bikes in the past and have expierence, but i need to know how to enter races as an amateur. What are some of the things i should do before I start to race?...how can i register for a amateur race?....please answer the question fully....thx
