buell makes a great beginner bike called a "blast". Nice and light. good riding position. Enough power to have a good time but not enough to overwhelm a novice. And they are not very expensive. Just don't hop right on a 600. They may be a smaller displacement bike but they make a huge amount of power and they are so light that you can get into trouble really quick! Happy hunting. Hope you have fun learning to ride.I have a honda xr 125, 04 plate,petrol leaking from carb overflow pipe,any ideas why.?
either the 250 or 500. not the 600 till u get a bit of experience. i'd recommend at least a year or 2 of solid riding. u will save alot of pain if u take slow steps and work ur way up. if u insist on caving in to peer pressure and get a 600cc or bigger, when u lay it down, dont say u wasnt warned.Rules for riding a riding mower on the road?

Here in PA they offer free motorcycle safety course and provide motorcycles for the course, They are 250's and most of them are Honda Shadows. These are good training cycles and are not very expensive. However, if this will be your first bike buy used and pay cash, get the experience of riding before moving up to bigger and more expensive bikes. I have had friends who bought big bikes like Goldwings and rode only a few times then selling them at a loss because they weren't ready for a big bike. Nothing wrong with starting small and working up to bigger later on. In fact the smaller bike will normally sell quicker when you are ready to move up, then use the money for your next bike.
