You will need to grind every square inch of the chrome with 36 grit high speed grinding wheel. 1st prime it with self etching primer, 2nd with an epoxy primer, 3rd with multiple coats of high build urethane primer, 4th sand that with 320 or 400 grit paper. Then paint it.I have decromed allot of cars over the years. problem is trying to find a non chrome bumper for cars not offered with them, so I paint them.
If you have to ask that, i would take it to get it done professionally... no offense.

Good luck that never works. Try some fine sandpaper or sanding sponge and then an epoxy primer before your main coats. Painting chrome is a losing battle, but I've found that when prepared correctly you have a small chance of success. How do I lace up the windshield of a Harley Davidson?

Are you talking about making something chrome, or painting something that is already chrome? How do i do a wheelie on a bike ?!?
If you want to get it chromed, the part will need to be dipped in several different chemical solutions. It is an involved process and NOT for the DIY'er.
If you are trying to paint something that is already chrome, get the part stripped down to bare steel. Then it can be prepped and painted just like any other metal part.
Do china atvs work and which brands do i get?
If the part is just polished aluminum (which some people confuse with chrome) then just sand it with a very fine (1000grit or finer) sandpaper or some 0000 steel wool.
If you want it to be VERY durable, powder coat it like was suggested. When my dad and I were building his 454, he bought a factory timing chain cover from GM. We were going to paint it a different color, so we tried to take the factory paint off. We tried every paint removal chemical we had, and that coating didn't even flinch. Long story short, we called the GM parts desk at the dealer and they said it was powder coated. I have been a fan of it ever since.
