What mufflers can I put on my bike?

Question:
I have an '81 honda CB400t. I am wondering how the mufflers affect the engine and if I can put any mufflers on my bike or do I have to stick with the factory installed type?

Converting a buell to a road bike?

Aftermarket exhausts are almost always louder, they look better, and they are more free flowing, which ideally would lead to a small hp gain. In practice, unless you rejet your carbs or have a power commander, aftermarket exhausts will cause a slight decrease in horsepower and cause the bike to run a tiny bit lean. with the yosh can on my gsxr there is pulsing at 4000 rpm when the bike is totally cold, that kind of thing can also be caused by the exhaust.

You actually have a lot of flexibility as far as exhaust options - you certainly don't have to stick with stock. You do have to remember that changes to the intake and exhaust will affect the air/fuel mix. Most performance exhausts allow you to change the number of baffles to tune it in just right.

Swapping out the air filter for a free flowing one and upgrading the carburetor jets are mods that compliment an exhaust swap well.

Having problems with the fuel cap on my gn250..thing is practical brand new and when i go to fuel up even ...?

Use the link Strech gave. That's a 26 year old bike, and finding aftermarket for those is very hard. Don't even bother thinking about the Yoshimura mentioned. It won't fit and it certainly won't do any good on a 400cc vertical twin.
