Considering I've never ridden one? How long would it take to learn? I know nothing about them. I was considering buying a cheap, used motorcycle - nothing fancy, just something that works to cruise around in this summer. It just looks like so much fun. I'm a pretty quick learner and know I can learn but I wanted to know how long I should expect to wait before I can get a license, considering I know nothing about motorcycles and have never ridden one before. take the msf or riders edge course. what u dont know can kill u, and they'll keep u from making what could become a fatal mistake in a panic situation. msf course in my area is 25 bucks, riders edge about 325 give or take. u use their bikes, and when u pass, u will be able to get the endorsement without having to do the test at the dmv. their bikes are small...250cc. msf will allow u up to a 500cc bike, but no bigger on the beginning riders course. msf also has an advanced course, but for that, u need to bring ur own bike, have the endorsement for a minumum of 6 months, and not be afraid of droppin the bike.ridin isnt all that difficult, but do remember 2 things: 1: cars have a hard time seeing us, and 2: u will never get away with trying to brake and swerve at the same time like in a car. it just cant be done. the bike will put u down hard if attempted.

There are a lot of motorcycle school out there that teach you all the required driving portions of the DMV test. They cost about $250, but save you from taking the road test. Once that's done (about 1-2 weeks) you can go to the DMV and take the written test and your done!If you're in the US, contact the local chapter of the MSF. They will teach you to ride properly and in most places you will get your license upon completion of their course.

I took the course, got my license and picked up my new bike. It was about 300lbs heavier than those bikes u practice on and i dropped it not 50 yds out of my driveway...but, i got used to it and now i LOVE it.

It's not hard, you just have to be careful. I defintitely, highly recommend taking the MOTORCYCLE SAFETY COURSE. It may save your life - I know it helped me. Dont rely on a friend teaching you. TAKE THE COURSE.

There is a training here in Ohio that shows you everything you need to learn, then they put you through a course and a test. At the end of the weekend if you pass - you have your endorsement. Not sure where you are from, but all states have something similar. It could take a while. You nedd some riding experience before you even think about getting on the road. You DO NOT want to crash for your first time on pavement. When you are learning to ride you ARE going to crash. It is a fact. You must accept this.You should learn to ride an off-road bike to build your confidence and overall ability on a motorcycles. When you believe that you are ready to ride on the road you should probably go to a riding school to learn other things about riding on pavement.
Actually getting your motorcycle licence won't take that long. You should check your state regulations for more information.
