do harley davidson make trucks or lorries?
A typical motorcycle speedometer cable has a hex nut at the drive unit, (either at the wheel hub, [i.e. rear wheel for pre 70's Triumph/BSA][front wheel hub or transmission on Harley's, depending what year it is]) and usually a round, knurled nut on the back of the speedometer gauge.Occasionally, the inner cable (inside the visable outer cable) needs to be removed and lubed. I usually undo the nut at the speedometer, pull the outer cable loose, then pull out the inner cable. Lube with high temperture grease (disc brake [NOT drum brake] wheel bearing grease, for example) DO NOT apply lube to the last 6 inches that goes into the speedo housing, as it will work it's way into the gauge and gum it up.
When reinstalling, insert inner cable into outer cable. Towards the end of insertion, you will have to turn the inner cable as you insert it, to line up/engage cable into drive mechanism. Reinstall outer cover to back of gauge unit, again aligning end of cable to socket on gauge, then retighten knurled nut.
A speedo cable works by spinning, rather than by pushing or pulling, like a throttle cable. Hence, each end of the speedo cable will have either a square end, and/or a flat end, to engage the drive unit/gauge unit, and transfer the rotating motion.
The same method of removing/reinstalling for lube can be used to replace a broken inner cable.
Hope this helps!
By the way, with only 37 miles on it, I would think it should be covered under warranty!
what oil should be in a 1980 yamaha maxium 650?
nothing! buy a new cable...tighten the ends of the cable with a wrench. if this does not work, find a scooter man to fix it for you.

Remove the cable from the speedometer & wheel, turn one end with your fingers, watch the other end to see if it turns. If it turns the cable is good. While you have the cable off, turn the wheel & see if the gear in the wheel that turns the cable works.Looks like the dealer should fix your scooter on waranty.what is bhp(bike horse power) in bikes and how is it related with engine .?
