I'm afraid it's most likely they cost too much to build.Especially compared to the modern twist & gos which have loads of plastic,less components & are easier to service(for the dealerships,that is,not really the home mechanic)
It's not all bad.I made the switch to autos years ago.I've got a GT,ET4 and several plastic fantastic.Nothing I've ever owned has got as much attention as my black ET4 with whitewall tyres,not even the custom Lambretta I had in the 80's.
