Motorcycle Max Milage?

Question:
What is the maximum milage you've put on a bike. I currently own a 2005 Yamaha V-Star and just yesterday rolled the odometer over 22K miles. I wonder if I would be able to roll it back to 00,000 in a couple of years :)

I'm getting a clicking sound while trying to start my ATV. Bad battery?

This question is a bit tricky. Like with a car it all depends on the way the bike is maintained. I have had to rebuild motors at as little as 12K miles. However I have an 84 Honda shadow that has turned over 127K and still has compression of 105. I bought this bike new in 84 and have done 98% of the service work on it myself. I have had to replace cables, batteries, lights, wires, starters, stators, and tires. But the heads have never been pulled. I always followed the service manual but have done so at slightly lower intervals. Such as the oil gets changed at 2K.

Top Speed of a GSX-R1000 ?

I no longer ride this bike much as I prefer the Harley, however my brother does ride it some. But I still do the maintenance and insist on inspecting it and test riding it every month. When I went over and rode it Sunday I noticed that the speedometer gear box is not working and the tach isn't reading so looks like when I do the oil change it will need a little extra TLC. But this bike has served me well and it deserves it.

Kinroad motorcycle, tyre pressures?

I've put 36K on the bike I currently own over the last 1 1/2 yrs. Very low miles compared to some folks I know. I've seen alot of higher mileage bikes that have rolled over the odometer and still kick butt on the roads.
If you do the routine maintenance faithfully, you should be able to see the odometer roll over without any problems. Just keep up w the little things that are glitching and don't let things deteriorate. Clutches, brake pads,, changing the hypoid gear oil, the big maintenance things also need to be kept up to date. This includes the wheel bearings,, stuff you would have done similar on your car you need to keep up w on the bike.
Living on the coast is harder on a bike due to issues w rust and the sea salt air. Corrosion is going to be an issue. Keep the bike as clean as possible and check w the local shops and folks what they suggest to protect the bike.
The synthetic vs regular oil is one of those life long debates like the chicken and the egg. Listen to other folks w an open mind and see what your gut tells you. Personally I run synthetic, but that's what my bike was on when I got him. My car is new, the first oil change I do on my own (not the dealer's free first change) is going to be either Castrol or Pennzoil, not synthetic. Use an oil that is rated for the smaller engines, check w the mechanics what they would use in their own bikes.

if u change the oil at least every 2500 to 3000 miles with the dino oil, and no more than 4000 on the synthetic.and i would say that would be pushing it, but due to the price of synth, i could understand.
as far as the primary...aka, transmission oil. i tend to change mine at either a: at the end of the season, or b: at 5000 miles whichever comes first. synthetics are generally more expensive than dino oil, but if u'd prefer to run almost a season in between changes, u might be better off with the synth. i just cant afford the synth.

also, make sure the air cleaner is changed when u cant see light thru it at the very least. dirty filters will cause u to have a too-rich condition on the mix, and that can foul a plug.

Have a 1982 yamaha xj750. what kind of exhaust should i put on it?

how u take care of it will determine how long it will last. if u baby the scoot and treat it good, it will treat u good for a long time.or until u decide to get rid of it if a car dont take u down first. ur v-star should easily be able to get over 100k miles with little trouble.

hey, u could always put a new engine in, or have the old engine rebuilt if the frame and other items are road worthy.

I personally have only put 35000 on a single bike but it still ran great but i was tired of it and bought a new one. I say it would run a long time with continued maintenance depending on how you ride
