Look at Yamaha, Honda, TnG, Stella, Bajaj, Kymco, TGB, Genuine, and Vespa. Stay away from the cheap China built ones with weird names. There are a lot cheap knock offs. Research the manufacture. Also many states consider anything over 49cc a motorcycle and you may need a motorcycle license. Anything 49cc under is considered a moped. Check with your state.Do they still allow 250 2 strokes to race against the 450 4 strokes in supercross/motocross?

Whether or not it's considered a "moped" is irrevelant. I had a Yamaha Zuma (49cc) and drove it 90miles a day to/from school. That lasted about 6 months till I got a Cruiser. They are great on the gas (100mpg). The only drawback on them is theyre slow going on hills. In the State of California, you do not need a License, however, at least a learners permit (for MCs).here's a link to them on ebay.

Dont worry about the cheap chinese imports, they are as good as the rest, motorcycle news tested a baotan 50 cc(think thats how its spelt) and they raved about it! I bought a sukida 125cc scooter for comuting to work (my other bike is a vtr1000) and its brill! and loaded with extras and a fraction of the price of more poular makes, lets face it your probably only going to keep it for a year max so buy a wee cheap chinese job and at least you wont lose a load of money when you come to sell itAre there any offroad trail in the Bay area in california?
