A lot of folks don't have the sticker and don't use a helmet either. The cops can and do give out tickets for going sans helmet and not having the sticker on the plate. If you choose not to wear a helmet at least have good insurance so the taxpayers don't have to support you if you become disabled.
some states have laws where you dont need to wear a helmet if you have a certain amount of insurance or are above a certain age, I'm guessing texas is one of these. Your best bet is to call the dmv and ask.

Btw, wear your helmet at least when you go on group rides. On sunday I was stuck behind some lame*** who was taking the long sweeping turns at 70 because he had no helmet and couldnt see. he was also doing wheelies in traffic and had zero gear, and it looked like he had skin grafts on his hands.

The sticker indicates you have insurance. You can ride without a helmet if you have insurance. The sticker just tell police you have insurance. Without the sticker and without a helmet they can pull you over to verify insurance. When I say insurance I mean medical not vehicle.

Enjoy the afterlife dude!!mira has the exact answer as i was about to post. riding without a helmet does feel good in the summer, but god help u if the unthinkable happens and u go down. u cant guarentee that u can keep ur head from hittin the pavement if the bike goes down. that sticker wont keep the bike from gettin in a wreck, and it wont guarentee u wont get seriously hurt. avoid the possibility and wear a helmet. hope u dont need to rely on a helmet, but if it comes to it, u wont be able to stop the fall long enough to put the lid on.
