Question:
ive had a four stroke in the past, but never a 2 stroke. so i dont know much about maintainance. i know you have to keep them topped up with 2 stroke oil, and that they burn it in the fuel mixture. i also know they go through cylinder rings like biscuits. is there anything else i should know? do they still need oil in the crankcase? it just seems wrong that they wouldn't...
im looking at getting an rs125 or nsr125
also...is the cbr a comparible choice of bike?
What kind of 1/4 mile time does a 750 cruiser style motorcycle run?

Motocross-wheel lacing. how is the best way to do it.?
I owned a Honda NS125r that was a two stroke and never had any problems with it.You should always ensure that there is plenty of top quality two stroke oil in the tank under the seat. The oil systems on all two strokes that i know of are divided into two,the system with the tank under the seat provides oil to the engine itself (piston, bore, crank, big and little end bearings. The other is the gearbox oil system which lubricates the gear cogs and selectors this should very rarely need topping up,it is vital you do not get the two mixed up.I still Love two strokes its just a shame they don't make them in 1000cc.Why do some bikers claim the noise is for safety but they don't take other safety precautions?
Yes, you still need normal oil in the engine, I never had a problem with cyl rings thought. Rode a Yamaha DT 175 '95 model for a few years. Is the extended warranty on a motorcycle really worth if?
Did not keep up to date with the models, so cannot give you advice on what to get.
What Stock Car Can Beat My 2007 GSX-R600?
You have to keep the oil reservoir topped up, and they also have a habit of going through spark plugs as well !!No oil in crankcase, you mix it with the gas just like the outboard motors on boats
Yamaha is the first 2-stroke maker to come out with the oil injection system whereby the proper amount of oil is metered into the gasoline via an onboard mechanical device.
HI, WHY CAN'T I GET MY OIL TO DRAIN OUT OF MY MOTORCYCLE??
Prior to the Yamaha oil injection system, it was necessary to mix the gasoline with the oil on all two-stroke powered machines.
Should i buy a new motor for my harley or rebuild my present motor? Anyone know of deals on motors?
The reason there is no oil in the engine crankcase on a 2-stroke engine is because the fuel-air mixture finds its way to the combustion chamber via first being sucked into the crankcase through a reed valve. The downward stroke of the piston pressurizes the crankcase, pushing its contents past vents machined into the cylinder wall up into the combustion chamber while the piston is at it's lowest point of travel.
Can somebody tell me how to perform a burnout on a motorcycle?
The entrance of the pressurized crankcase contents into the combustion chamber is what dispels the exhaust contents from the previous ignition from the combustion chamber.

If you're thinking "Gee, it sounds like a very imprecise way of evacuating exhaust gasses . . . don't they mix in the process?"
Will a stock 1995 kx 250 run with a new 250?
The answer is "Yes, they do mix in the process. And some exhuast gasses remain in the combustion chamber and make the next ignition less potent, and some of the new gasses escape with the prior exhaust as unburned hydrocarbons and pollute the atmosphere."
But that's all part of the price you pay to get a pop every time the piston goes up.
How do you do a wheelie on a yamaha banshee?
Plus you get to change the spark plug more often because of all the oil mixed with the gas that lubricates the crankcase as it passes through fouls them out quickly. And you get to replace the rings more often because lubrication is washed off of them because their lubricating oil is so diluted with gasoline.
Anyone got any cheap wheels for a 2003 harley davidson Heritage softail?
I don't believe the CBR (Honda, right?) is a 2 stroke, so it won't have the power to weight ratio of the 2 stroke, but it wont' be as troublesome or dirty either.

I have a '92 FZR600 Yamaha and the compression doesn't work?
most, but not all 2 strokes use oil in the crankcase. Some have permanently sealed bearings, but very very few motorcycles, if any do. cylinder rings should not be "burned thru like buiscuits" unless your oil fuel mixture is off. basically, the way a 2 stroke works is that the gas is burned off, leaving the oil to lubricate the cylinder walls. Why did my indicator lights die on my 1975 Suzuki ts250?
The engine and gearbox lubrication systems are separate on all these machines.Put good quality 2 stroke oil in the oil tank and remember to check the oil level in the gearbox. Your handbook will tell you how to do this and what grade of oil to use.
Anyone have disc locks for their motorcycle?
The "Priller" RS tends to go through pistons like biscuits too, as well as conrods and big end bearings, although being Italian, they do go pop with a certain amount of flair and style.
What is the difference between DTSI and DTFSI of bajaj pulsar bikes?
Good quality 2 stroke oil (good quality = £8 - £10 per litre from motorcycle shops, not your local petrol station or supermarket) and careful warming up of the engine before you thrash it, will make the rings last longer.
Expect 10,000 miles out of a set of road bike rings if you do this and keep the air cleaner clean.
Is it OK to warm up my motorcycle when it's on the kickstand?
Respect the planet and small woodland creatures, buy a clean burning 4 stroke.
Where should I take my 1974 Honda CB550 for a tuneup in Chicago?
if i was picking a bike i would take the aprillia rs 125 as its way better and the ride handling comfort and top end speed is un matched by any of its rivals they need more maintainance thoMore Questions & Answers ...
