Plug wires are solid core on motorcycles and don't go bad. Change the spark plugs...one plug is not firing every time and fuel is accumulating in the cylinder so when the plug does fire again, it causes a backfire.

Well it sounds like your ignition system is wet, but that shouldn't happen by just being in the rain. Did you splash through a big puddle and soak the motor? Or maybe there is a leak around the window that is getting your electrical system wet along the firewall. Look at your spark plug wires and other ignition components and see if there is water present. Unplug the boots and look for water in them. Good luck, electrical problems suck

What does "being in rain" mean? Did it sit out in it for days? If so, maybe water got in the tank. Drain it down safely into a container, away from any source of flame, etc. Drain the carb bowls also. Check the air filter, maybe its soaked with water due to a leaky airbox or exposed air cleaners.
