question for Mo. motorcyclist Y .?
Start with a 250cc or smaller. It's easier to control than a huge big 650cc engine! If you're able to find a 1980's? Honda Hawk today in good mechanical condition, it will make an excellent bike for the beginner. Honda must have had ergonomics in mind when it was designed, it had a solid alloy external frame, low seat height to plant feet flat onto the ground, simple handle bars and controls, lightweight and a good power to weight ratio. Judging a bike by its engine size alone is only a fraction of the information you'll need.
A saleman friend for Hondas tried to find a used one a few years ago. For a woman about 5'3" desperate to learn and ride. He found owners who wouldn't sell and gave up after 2 years. If you have one its kinda rare.
Do I need insurance on a motorcycle 20 years or older in Ontario, Canada?
you should get the motorcycle that you really want to have right from the start. i began with a Harley sportster. then got a softail standard. now, my bike is a Harley ultra classic Electra glide. the ultra classic is the bike i should have bought from the start. it handles much better than the other two, and the ride is awesomely comfortable. there is a bike you REALLY want, so get that one, you won't be sorry.what kind of oil is the best for a yz 250?
BUT --- take the basic motorcycle safety course FIRST. don't let anyone else teach you, and don't take ANY advice from people who have ridden for years -- ask them if they've taken the course.
257cc scooter motor overheating?
after you take the basic course, then take the advanced course, and ride, ride, ride so you are well-practiced.
The Hawk is such good stuff that Suzuki took the idea and built up the SV650. It might actually perform too well for a beginner though, overconfidence can hurt just as much as incompetence.
Among motorcycle enthusiasts the Hawk GT is considered a classic bike. It would make a reasonably good motorcyle for a beginner. If you are a true beginner I recommend taking a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) beginner course. Also wear helmet and gloves always.
