1) Keep the tires at their maximum rated pressure.2) Keep it well maintained (air filter, oil change).
3) Keep the chain well lubed.
4) Add a small fairing if it doesn't already have one.
5) Install lower, flatter handlebars to place you in a more aerodynamic position.
6) Short shift - shift into the next gear earlier.
7) Add a larger countershaft sprocket and a smaller rear sprocket.
8) Install a less restrictive muffler.
9) Remove any devices which use engine vacuum, for example an air-injection pump.
10) Try high quality synthetic, low viscosity motor oils. Be careful that they are rated for motorcycle use - automotive oils are not appropriate for most motorcycles.
