Learning to ride a motorbike in the UK?

Question:
I'm interested in learning to ride a motorbike, I'm 24 and have had a full car licence since 1999. My understanding is that if I complete the CBT course, I can ride any bike up to 125cc with L plates for 2 years. Is this correct?
Does anyone have any experience riding smaller bikes? I'm a big lad (16stone +) so would riding a smaller engined bike be an issue?
Also, how much would it cost to buy a reliable 2nd hand bike with an approx 100cc engine?
Cheers

Yes, it is 2 years. You should be ok. I have a friend bigger than you who has a c90. I agree with first answer as to a reasonable price.
