Reason for this, is once synthetic coats the internals of your motor, you don't want to change back. It can pre-maturely wear an engine, due to some of the additives that the manufacturers use. It's a matter of preference for each user. Some people like regular oil, some synthetic. I've heard alot of different stories, some say your engine wears less with synthetic than regular and vise versa. Some say you get better gas mileage with one than the other. You'll need to read up, and make your own decision.
