1983 Honda XL 200R Dirt/Street Bike With Issues?

Question:
This Bike sat for a few years and I have recently tried to start it and, shockingly, it didn't run. I figured out that the carbeurator was varnished up from the sour gas, the throttle cable was also siezed up inside the carb as well. I cleaned up the carbeurator, needle valves and the float. But alas it still wont run. Before I cleaned the carb out it would fire and run for a few seconds but because the throttle was siezed it wouldn't stay running. I am wondering what the problem is. I am thinking ti is the carb adjustment but I am not sure. There a little screw valves on the side maybe they are out of adjustment. We tried to push it to get it to start. It would fire and run for a few short seconds and then Die. Somebody please help me!! It's beautiful out and I want to ride my Bike!!

Dont mess with that adj. screw too mush. Did you put the needle in right?Got gas flowing through? Use a little starter fluid (not a lot) or put a small amount of gas on your spk. plug. It will take a few times to get the gas flowing.
