pit bikes aren't made to do big jumps, just to play around on in the dirt, they do have pit bike mx races but they don't do any major jumping.

Originally pit bikes were just Honda 50's or something similar that the racers rode around the pits between motos, hence the name pit bike. At some point they started racing amongst themselves and that eventually became a regular class at some tracks. Now you can spend up to $10,000 or more on a high tech pit bike and they actually have a championship series for pit bike racing.
