Question:
I used to ride, years ago. Models and new technology has changed and I don't know exactly what to look for anymore. Gas prices continue to inch up and summer is coming, so it's time to start shopping for a street bike.
I'm 5'6' and only 110lbs. I DO know how to ride, but I don't need a racing bike.
What are the best bikes I should look for?

I have an 87 HD Sportster. Need some wiring help.?
try the kawasaki ninja 250, see if it fits as far as getting your leg down on stops. the honda rebel 250 is a little lower, but the style just bugs me. the ninja is a great running bike. good luck. Were can i buy cheap motorcycle leathers?
Check out any "cruiser" style bike of any brand. If you have a 30 inch inseam you should find a good fit.Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 900 or 900LT, Yamaha VStar 1100, or Honda VTX 1300.
I'm also 5'6" and really have no problem riding a sportsbike. I just always leave my shifting foot on at a stop while I flat foot my brake foot. It really depends on your taste, since you already know how to ride, I wouldn't recommend a Ninja 250 unless you just really want a beater bike to get you around town and don't care at all about appearance. You would be fine riding around on a Suzuki SV650 or Honda 599 for something sporty, fun and practical. Or if you don't care about sporty then some standard might suit your needs such as a Triumph Bonneville. It really comes down to personal taste.

You could look at the adult-size scooters such as the Suzuki Burgman or the Yamaha Majesty. Once you get over the ''nerdiness' factor, the bikes are fun and easy to get along with. I did a demo on the 650 Burgman and was very impressed. The variable pulley belt transmission (as with snowmobiles) worked so well I can't understand why bikes are still made with gearbox transmissions. I am now riding a 110 scooter as I live in Asia. The only negatives are that the 110 is inadequate for highway use and there is no tank to grip with my legs. The electric starter in my bike cannot start if the engine does not heat much.any remedies?
I would go to several dealerships and sit on some bikes. We just bought a bike for my wife. The Honda cruisers seemed to lack the ergonomics she was looking for. I wanted her to get a Sportster. We tried several of the HD bikes and she complained of them being "top heavy". She happened to fall for a Yamaha Royal Star 1100. Yes. She can ride. Very well. She is 5'5" and she screams around on it like it is a 10 speed.Yamaha R1 Raven as a first bike?
for comfort and size - you can't go wrong with a Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider. it is heavy enough to be comfortable on long rides and not beat you up, but still low enough for short folks. besides - it looks WAY cool too. LOLWhy is gas pouring out my overflow tube? 2002 Yamaha Warrior?
Here in PA they offer free motorcycle safety course and provide motorcycles for the course, They are 250's and most of them are Honda Shadows. These are good training cycles and are not very expensive. However, if this will be your first bike buy used and pay cash, get the experience of riding before moving up to bigger and more expensive bikes. I have had friends who bought big bikes like Goldwings and rode only a few times then selling them at a loss because they weren't ready for a big bike. Nothing wrong with starting small and working up to bigger later on. In fact the smaller bike will normally sell quicker when you are ready to move up, then use the money for your next bike.Source(s):
