The V5 isn't proof of legal ownership anyway. You should have got a receipt or some other proof of sale. If you don't have any proof then if it went to court the seller still owns it.Why spokes are not arranged perpendicular to rim of motor cycle rather than at angle?
You can fill in a V62 form (available from the post office) to request a new V5 and the DLVA will send a letter to the seller informing him that someone else has asked for a new V5. If he doesn't contest this they will send you a new V5 then. If you had the green bit you'd send that with the V62 and it would be free, if you don't have the green bit you'll have to pay (was £19 last time i checked)

Of course if it turns sour you could get some payback by riding though as many speed cameras as you can (assuming you have the bike). Seeing as he owns the bike and it's still registered to him he'll get all the speeding fines.

Hopefully, when you paid you obtained a bill of sale. If you have the bill of sale and the VIN you should be able to contact your titling entity about obtaining the vehicle title.
