NONONONONONONONONONONONONONOThere are a lot of other factors to consider such as was the bike stored indoors during winter and how was it rode by the previous owner? Does it leak fluids? Is the mileage 13K or 130K? You probably are looking at a good bike. It's a good size for a first timer. And most importantly.welcome to the club! I've been riding for 35 years and still enjoy it just as much as my first time! If you have doubts about the bike, take someone who is in the know with you to check it out.
its a durable little bike, you could do much worse. if my wife wanted to start riding, a 535 is exactly what I would buy her.

this is a great starter bike.my first bike was a virago 535. it's not a 250, and its not too big the motor looks bigger than it is. and you look good on it. you should check out what some of the asians are doing with viragos. great choppers.. i paid 2000 us dollars for mine. a great deal for a great looking bike. buy one
