With a bike, it's much worse to see. The bike just becomes a flimsy toy being thrown through the air. Cause it's so much smaller, it's just literally flying all over the place, even at the lightest tap from a car.

Once a guy I knew was on a bike, and car just tapped the back end of his bike. Lightly, very lightly. The boke spoun around five times, then slid over about ten metres, and the guy got up.
He was a bit shaken, but uninjured.

The weird thing was the riders never wore any helmets and after crashing they just got up and walked - maybe cos they're used to it! Here it is a different story and it's rare.my son is a Harley Technician and I have seen him put a bike down several times. He has broke his wrist three times. Has pebbles inbedded in the palm of his hand, and broke his leg once,(trying to take a triple jump on a dirt bike). But on a street bike, he has never wrecked. Yes and luckily he didn't hit his head. But I grew up and rode a bike on city streets without a helmet. Thought it was stupid until I saw some research that stated if you get into an accident with your bike there is a 70% chance you will hit your head. I was in 2 accidents and hit my head both times. Yes. I didnt know the person, but i did see the accident happen and what the driver did was illegal. He was swirving in and out of traffic and he was doing atleast 60 when a car switched lanes and he was thrown form the bike.recommendation for a beginner dirtbike?
Never witnessed the actual accident. But worked the road for several years as a Paramedic.. Not usually a pretty site on a good accident.. The trauma to the rider is unbelieveable when you see this situation. Remember there is no protection for those guys...What makes a motorcycle backfire?

Yes, me several times, but always on a track never on the street.You have to remember falling of a bike isn't so bad as long as you don't hit anything, or someone or something doesn't hit you.yea, saw myself crashing. Had my rear tire come off of the rim while in a hard turn. the tire on the bike was the one that was on it when i bought it and i think it had dry rotted because the guy hardly rode it. I had my wife on the back and i think it was just too much for the old tire. She went highside and kinda landed on her feet before the momentum slammed her on her knees. The bike kicked back and i lowsided with the bike landing on my ankle. I hit my head on the pavement and was glad i was wearing my helmet. We both walked home with a little road rash and some bruises and i had a badly twisted ankle, but otherwise ok. I was out riding the next day.
As a lot of us that ride, time will get us. The question is how bad and how often. Knock on wood, my first an only one happened in my second season on a 1970 Triumph Daytona. She and I were T-Bone by a Chrysler NewYorker. She died while I healed up nicely. That was thirty-four years ago. There have been some close calls since, but by the grace of God only a few scratches on the scooter and a bruise here or there.
