I have had many road bikes, if i were you i would avoid purchasing one till you have spent many years driving, its much harder to ride than drive, cars offer you no respect and you do not get many chances with mistakes, they usually hurt or kill.Buy a car and later in life get a cruiser and enjoy the experience.

Depends on the riders age and size. Don't buy a bike too small for the person or they will look foolish on it. Get the biggest available that you can comfortably handle. Go to a showroom and look around and ask questions. I like the mid size hondas.

You're obviously joking, right? Nobody in their right mind could ever think that a new rider could handle a Hayabusa in a year, probably not in 3-5 years, even. Seriously, take an MSF course, get a small bike and learn to ride, I don't mean using the controls, I mean, staying alive on the road. Many cars don't respect your bike, some don't even see you, when you ride, you have to watch all these cars and get away from them, if you mess up, you won't just mess up your bike, you will f_*** yourself up, big time.

Learn to drive a car safely first, then learn to ride a bike safely and then worry about speed, because cars don't watch for you, you have to save yourself from cars, I live a LA and ride 12 miles to work everyday in traffic and at least once a day, a car changes lane into me, not to mention the times I simply ride out of the way of cars (which is most of the time).

A dirtbike is the best to learn on. They are light, agile, and not overbearing. You can gain allot of confidence on one and your learning curve will be much quicker than on a bigger streetbike.
If you want a streetbike to learn on I recommend the Suzuki SV650. It isn't daunting to ride and it has enough sport that even experienced riders have a blast on it.

Depends, if you are wanting to get a crotch rocket in the future then the Kawasaki 250 is a good starter, a good cruiser would be the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 classic. The weight is low to the ground and is an easy smooth bike. Obviously I am a kawi fan but as for a crotch rocket starter bike the 250 cant be beat.
