Questions For Those Who Know Motorcycles?

Question:
Hello. I am looking to buy my boyfriend a crotch rocket street bike for Christmas. But I don't really know much about motorcycles. I found a cheaper one on Ebay that is brand new and has a 200 cc motor. My boyfriend's 19 and weighs about 150 pounds. I want to get him something nice but don't want to spend over $3,000. I plan on paying payments on it but I just don't know what to get him. Please help me any way that you all can. Thanks!

200cc is not a street legal bike. Minimum is 250cc unless its classified as a moped or scooter.

thanks for help with bike bogging down with k+n sorry to not mention make it is a Kawasaki kx 85 cc?

for 3k the only thing decently new you would be able to get him is a Kawasaki EX 250. at 19 years old its probably all he needs anyway. Does he have any experience on a bike?

Do any of you know what kind of scooter eric ostrom uses?

I'm sure you can find a thrashed ZX6R or some other used stunt bike for under $3000, but if you like your boyfriend alive I wouldn't recomend it. Search for EX 250, Ninja 250 R, Ninja 500 R, or Suzuki GS500F. They are all good first bikes.

Are you sure you weren't looking at the moped section? I mean come on, 200 cc? It might pull a midget...

What was the last year Harley-Davidson made the FXRS-SP model?

first off you need to ask him if he has ever ridden a motorcycle then you will be able to determine what size is best also if you intend also to be a passenger on the bike you will need at least a 750 or bigger in order for it to handle both of you . also if you are gonna ride on it also you will want it to be comfortable for you too so if you will be on it too i suggest you get like a honda goldwing or something simular you see a motorcycle can be very dangerous if you are not aware of the hazzards they can encounter or if you drive them recklessly so you should tell him you would like to buy him one for xmas and let him decide so that he will like it more and you will get him one he really likes that way you wont waste 3000 on a bike he might not want and you end up selling it hope this helps and please be very careful on it because bike are very fun and you can have many good times on it just be safe and you will enjoy it very much

what is the animal that the suzuki hayabusa is named after?

If you care about him at all make sure he has proper gear first.
There is nothing that takes and flesh off bones faster than asphalt at 20 plus mph. Full face helmets are a must, as are good jackets and gloves. Pants and boots are an extremely good idea. There are 2 types of riders: those who have crashed and those who will so don't cheap out on gear.
You can pick up a good 90's 600 for around 3k, figure on at least $200 for a helmet (mine was over $400) and around $150 for a jacket. Stay away from the smaller bikes (500cc and under) he will outgrow them quick and they probably won't scare him as much. Once you stop being a little scared of your bike you will get hurt.

Don't do it. Period. Especially and in particularly if you have to finance the thing.

Can you start racing motocross with a 250cc if you never rode before?

It's great that you think enough of your BOYFRIEND to want to do something that nice for him. You are to be commended. But he isn't your husband, and if you two have problems in your relationship guess who's going to end up holding the bag, errr...payment book, and guess who will end up with the bike. Unless it's trashed.

I can't even begin to count the number of situations like this I've seen over the years and NONE of them ended up good.

Where can I find a picture of a 1983-1986 Yamaha Enduro 100?

If he wants to ride, let him buy the bike, then you buy him something nice, like a quality helmet, riding gear, boots, whatever. As long as you don't end up with a payment book.

After your married, or have lived together for a few years or whatever, then consider major purchases together. But for now.... DON'T DO IT!

how do i make my vance and hines exhaust quieter!?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but someone should warn you ahead of time. You may have found yourself an exception to the rule, but generally 19 year old males are still playing the field and aren't ready for any long term arrangement. I know I wasn't at that age and neither was anyone else I knew. Unless money is no object for you, and since you're considering making payments that's probably not the case, forget the bike and the payments. The odds are you're going to end up with a payment book and memories. Find something else for a gift. If you're boyfriend is still around in a few years, reconsider.

Can anyone tell me what happened to "www.directparts.com"? I can't bring it up. It is a motorcycle parts site

Well, I'm going to assume that since your avatar is a male that it's a homosexual relationship. Hey, I'm not judging, just getting the facts straight.

From what I know, most homosexual relationships end up NOT being monogomous for whatever reason. Believe me, I'm treading lightly here.

How much did you spend accessorizing your V-Twin Cruiser?

That said, a 3,000.00 200cc bike is something for a small child, not a fully grown male. When I was 19 I weighed more like 165 and started out on a Triumph 650 Bonneville and after a while, that seemed small and underpowered to me at times.

Honda cr80 dirt bike. is a big whhel the same as the expert model? and what is the orange/red colour called/?

anyone willing to teach me how to ride a motorcycle?

That is way to big a gift for a boyfriend, unless youre rich. It would be foolish to buy a gift you have to make payments on. Think it over. You're going to be stuck with these payments for awhile and if you break up, wouldn't it suck to have to make payments on a bike for an ex boyfriend. Because that is what you would have to do.

why does the chain keep getting loose on my dirt bike t/RR 90?

first off, it dont matter if you are gay, straight, bi, tri, whatever... sexual prefrence dosent have anything to do with a relationship lasting, thats just fundamentalist crap. Being a teenager on the other hand, definatly does have alot to do with the possiblility of the relationship going bad. I know of more gay adults in stable relationships than i know people who are still with the person they dated in highschool. At that age this relationship isnt something you want to be investing thousands of dollars in. If you have to finance it, then you must not be rich enough to handle buying such extravegent gifts for anyone. That part aside, you cant buy a motorcycle for someone. Each rider has very different specifics in riding style, useage, ect. Noone should ever just hop on a bike and ride it around unless they know something about that bike. He should go to dealerships and decide what kind of a bike fits his riding style, assuming that he even has one, you never mentioned if he has any riding experience. Unless you are actively trying to kill him, he needs to take the rider course and find out for himself If he can ride, if he wants to ride, and what kind of bike he can ride. A motorcycle is too serious and specific of a thing to be purchased by someone who knows nothing about them. If he wants to ride bad enough, let him make it happen on his own. If it dosent happen, then he didnt really want it enough.

I have 3 Suzuki's 2005 DRZ400-s, 2000 DRZ400-e and 96 DR350. Will 400 parts fit the 350 ?

Buy him the beginner course.
If you want to spoil him follow it up with an intermediate course, and/or track time.
If you are gay or not does not matter, haters, you want him alive to love him, true??
