I love the look of a Vespa PX125, they look so good compared to all other scooters. When I say Vespa PX125, I mean the "cool" Vespa scooters driven by Mods etc. For all I know I may be calling it toatlly the wrong thing.
where can i legally ride my pocketbike in califorina?
Anyway, I'm interested in purchasing one, but have not got a clue about scootering. Is this a good choice for a first scooter?

If you want the vespa style, you might want to consider a Yamaha Vino125. It's a 125cc scooter, with very good build quality, and it has that classic scooter styling that the Vespas have. It's much more affordable, and at least in the states, you're much more likely to find a used Vino125 than a PX150. Cheap to get, and very dependable. The downside, if you're into the classic two-strokes, is that the Vino doesn't have a shifter, and that's pretty crucial to some folks who're die-hard Quadraphenians.has anyone seen a giant trike (3 wheel bike) driving about england in camo colours?
If those manual shifters and two-strokes are what you like, keep an eye out for Stella's too, made by Genuine Scooter Co. They've stopped producing them very recently, but they were being built off the exact design of the old PX, with the same manufacturing equipment and everything. You get the best of both worlds, the old school design, and a modern built machine. My favorite classic is the Lambretta 200s. Nice lines.
Be careful with these larger 125cc+ engines, if you've never been on one. It might surprise you the amount of get-up-and-go you have.

Yes, Vespa is a very good machine, although somewhat expensive. The Japanese motorcycle companies, Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki all have top notch scooters. A PX125 is an excellent choice for a first scooter. My first scooter was a 1979 PX125 and it ran like a champ. Just be sure to keep the oil level up and the tires (including spare!) properly inflated. When looking at these to buy, check for brake strength, smoothness of shifting, startup speed (kick start and choke) and check for rust underneath the floorboard. You also want to make sure the horn works and the blinkers/lights all work ok. The electrical systems on Vespas are the worst part of fixing them, but if you are even a little bit astute with mechanics, they are easy to maintain (and cheap too).honda helix
